After 14 days of protests and sloganeering, the opposition got the Indian Prime Minister to finally speak in the Indian parliament. The expectation was for the Prime Minister to address the crisis in Manipur, where in an ongoing 88 day bloody conflict, at least seven tribal women were reported to be raped, several abused, three paraded naked in a horrendous video and there was a complete breakdown in law and order. There were over 6,000 police reports filed since when the conflict began and 142 people were reported dead. The opposition made several emotive speeches. The Prime Minister instead had the parliament in splits when he mocked the opposition. The opposition staged a walkout. The Prime Minister strangely decided to assure the parliament of peace in Manipur after the opposition left.
